I'm happy to annnounce that my application for an EMBO Long-Term Postdoctoral Fellowship was funded. I'm going to join the laboratory of Patrick Keeling (University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada) in April 2017 to focus on the functional role of endosymbiotic gene transfer in organelle evolution.
I visited Madagascar for the first time in 2006 as a high school student, came back in 2007, and this year it was almost ten years from my first visit. We've visited many national parks and reserves (Andasibe, Mantadia, Ranomafana, Ankarafantsika, Zombitse, Tsimanampetsotsa, Cap Sainte Marie, Andohahela) and seen almost 200 vertebrate species. If you're planning a visit of national parks in Madagascar, feel free to contact me for info. Selected pictures from the visit are now in my photogallery.
I was helping out as a last-minute TA at the Workshop on Population and Speciation Genomics in Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic.
I've spent this October visiting Laura Ross lab in Edinburgh. I had a great time in Scotland and even managed to visit the Highlands during a five day trip and take some pictures (see my photogallery).
