Hi! Welcome to my personal webpage. I am a European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Patrick Keeling at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. I did my PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology and Genetics (joint PhD program of the University of South Bohemia and Institute of Parasitology, Czech Academy of Sciences, Czech Republic) under the supervision of John McCutcheon (University of Montana, USA).

Apart from science, I enjoy traveling, hiking, backpacking, back-country skiing (yes, anything outdoors), homebrewing, all types of maps, surreal humor and literary nonsense, and photography.

My Evolution, Cell Biology, & Symbiosis Unit at OIST will open in April 2020 (open the article for more details)

Madagascar 2016

I visited Madagascar for the first time in 2006 as a high school student, came back in 2007, and this year it was almost ten years from my first visit. We've visited many national parks and reserves (Andasibe, Mantadia, Ranomafana, Ankarafantsika, Zombitse, Tsimanampetsotsa, Cap Sainte Marie, Andohahela) and seen almost 200 vertebrate species. If you're planning a visit of national parks in Madagascar, feel free to contact me for info. Selected pictures from the visit are now in my photogallery.
